The “Shooting Report” returns, as Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers were called to two incidents this week.

March 5
House shot up in Brentwood-Darlington

In the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood, officers begin an investigation of this shooting.

Gunshots along a quiet street in the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood shattered an otherwise peaceful Saturday afternoon of March 5.

PPB East Precincts officers were dispatched at 4:26 p.m. that afternoon to a residence along S.E. Tenino Street, between 57th and 60th Avenues – it was a “Shots Fired” call.

Yellow evidence markers cover the spent bullet casings found in the driveway of this house.

These officers found “evidence of shooting” in the location, and called in the PPB’s Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) to help investigate.

“Shots were fired at a home,” PPB Public Information Officer Terri Wallo Strauss told East Portland News. “The house was struck, but no one was injured.”

A member of the PPB’s Enhanced Community Safety Team interviews a concerned neighbor about the shooting.

This case remains under investigation by the ECST. If you have information about it, and have not already spoken with investigators, email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, and add that it’s regarding Case No. 25-87139.

April 10
Man arrested after Hazelwood shooting

Near the entrance of a convenience market, officers stand guard over evidence – after a shooting takes place in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

The dreary, rain-soaked Thursday afternoon of April 10 didn’t keep stop a man from shooting at others near the TriMet MAX Light Rail station at S. E. 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street.

The first call to the 9-1-1 Center came across the emergency services radio was from an AMR ambulance passing through the area: “Guys are shooting at each other near the MAX station, while running down the street …” crackled a voice across the airwaves.

A moment later, PPB East Precinct officers were sent there, at 3:44 p.m. Several Transit Public Safety personnel were stationed on the westerly MAX platform.

However, responding officers found a spent bullet casing near the entrance to the Shell Food Mart convenience store.

With the first spent bullet casing found at the scene under a yellow evidence marker, officers compare notes of their investigations. Inset, here’s the shell casing.

Witnesses tell details of the shooting, and give a description of the shooter, to a responding officer.

“Officers did determine that an adult male had been shooting at another adult male,” PPB Public Information Manager Mike Benner later told East Portland News. “Fortunately, nobody was struck by gunfire.

“The suspect fled the scene; however, due to some good police work, the suspect was located and taken into custody – and officers also located the firearm and seized it,” said Benner.

This officer spots a bullet hole in the fence, very close to a neighboring apartment complex.

After his arrest, 51-year-old Nathan Montrell Hudson was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) at 7:31 p.m. on multiple Felony charges, including two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony Parole Violation – plus additional charges related to his effort to flee the police.

Currently, Hudson is being held, without bail, in the MCDC.

The PPB’s Enhanced Community Safety Team is following up on the investigation. If you have information about this incident, and have not already spoken with investigators, email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, and tell them that it’s regarding Case No. 25-92078.
