This weeks Shooting Report has a trio of shooting incidents, two of them in the daytime, and one at night outside a bar.

Man shoots self, in Argay Terrace

An officer checks with paramedics in an ambulance, after a man accidently shoots himself.
In a unit of the Images Columbia apartment complex, located in the Argay Terrace neighborhood along the 13400 block of NE Sandy Boulevard, PPB North Precinct officers were dispatched to a “Shooting-with-Weapon” on June 13 at 2:55 p.m.
Once inside the sprawling complex, officers were directed to the apartment where a man had been wounded by a gunshot. His own gunshot, it turned out.
“The patient acknowledged to officers that it was a negligent discharge of his firearm, [leading to] accidental self-inflicted injury,” PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen told East Portland News afterwards. “The gun was seized as evidence; however, no arrests were made.”

Man wounded by gunfire outside Parkrose bar

NE Sandy Boulevard is closed off while police investigate a shooting at a Parkrose establishment.
After shots were heard out in front of O’Dear Bar and Grill, along NE Sandy Boulevard at 108th Avenue, in the wee hours of June 15th, PPB North Precinct officers were dispatched at 12:52 a.m.
Bystanders pointed out a wounded man to the arriving officers. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital, where he’s expected to recover from his injuries.

The wounded man is secured in an ambulance, ready to be taken to a local hospital.

Officers find spent bullet shell casings in the street at the scene of this shooting.
The shooting suspect fled the scene before officers arrived; and so far, no arrests have been made. It’s not clear whether the assailant has yet been identified.

Man, shooting at the sky in Hazelwood, is busted with Fentanyl

In the Hazelwood neighborhood, along East Burnside street, officers look for shell casings, after several people report hearing shots fired.
Calls started coming into the 9-1-1 Center on Monday morning, June 16, from people reporting hearing gunshots along East Burnside Street near 129th Avenue. PPB East Precinct officers were immediately sent to that location at 9:25 a.m.
“Multiple callers reported hearing shots,” Sergeant Allen confirmed to East Portland News. “One of the callers described a red Chevrolet Suburban as the possible shooting vehicle.
“Doing incredible police work, officers found a vehicle matching the description stopped in the lot of the Mini Mart at SE 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street,” Sergeant Allen continued.
Officers detained its driver inside the store. “The suspect was cooperative, and he was taken into custody,” Sergeant Allen told East Portland News. “The investigation revealed that the suspect fired a gun in the air after a road rage incident; and officers found a loaded firearm in the vehicle, under the driver’s seat.”

Two of three spent bullet shell casings are marked with yellow evidence markers.
Officers recovered three 9mm casings at SE 129th and Burnside St. They also found homemade fireworks in the vehicle, causing officers to call specialists from the PPB’s Explosive Device Unit, who took the devices for destruction.
“No one called to report seeing or being involved in a road rage incident; and, officers canvassed the area looking for victims and property damage, but none were located,” Sergeant Allen reported.
However, officers did arrest 35-year-old Devon Scott Damon, who was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center at 10:37 a.m. that morning on an Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a C Felony) charge, and Misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Possession of Loaded Firearm in Public, Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon, and Possession of Fentanyl. At his arraignment, Damon learned he’d face an additional Misdemeanor “Menacing” charge.
Currently, Damon is being held in Inverness Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
