Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officials have said little about a shooting on Monday night, December 29, on NE 97th Avenue near Glisan Street – an area populated by campers.
Records show that at 10:53 p.m., PPB East Precinct 0fficers were dispatched to this “Shooting-with-Weapon” in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

An ambulance prepares to rush a gunshot-wounded man to a hospital.
Arriving officers found a 51-year-old man who was taken to a local hospital with what were described as “non-life-threatening injuries”.
As many as a dozen officers, including some with the PPB’s The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST), swarmed the area and started asking questions. The answers they received led them to detain, and later arrest, two suspects. Investigators also found a firearm.

Into the night, this shooting investigation continues.
After his arrest, 18-year-old Alejandro Mandujano was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on December 30 at 5:23 a.m. on charges of Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Firearm.

However, at his arraignment, a kindly Multnomah County Court judge “released” two Class A Felony charges against Mandujano – Attempted Murder, and Assault in the First Degree – and added a charge of “Attempted Assault in the Second Degree” – but left the weapons and other assault charges intact. Currently, Mandujano is behind bars in Inverness Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The second suspect, a juvenile, was taken to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Assault in the Third Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
