A high school student was taken into custody by Portland Police Bureau officers on Tuesday, March 3rd, following a lengthy investigation into repeated threats directed at students and staff of David Douglas High School.
According to PPB officials, the investigation began during the second week of last December with a threat received at the high school. Over the next two months, another dozen additional threats were received.

Both students and faculty at the school were targeted with harassing and troubling messages, officials say.
By how many different means the threats were delivered – telephone, text messages, social media, or whatever – has not been revealed. However, the threats were serious enough to cause a coordinated response between the school officials and police.

PPB officers arrest a male teenage suspect.
Through investigative efforts, officers identified a 15-year-old male student as the suspect. PPB East Precinct and School Liaison officers then arrested the individual without incident.
He was transported to the Donald E Long Juvenile Detention Center. He was lodged on multiple charges, including Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree, Telephonic Harassment, Coercion, and Harassment.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, officials won’t say if he has subsequently been released, or if he is still in custody.
