About an hour before sunrise on Sunday morning, November 16th, shots were heard in a home along SE 125th Avenue at Pedestrian Trail, about three blocks south of Division Street.
As a result of 9-1-1 calls, at 6:34 a.m., several Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers were wheeling east on SE Division Street, rapidly rounding the corner southbound on 125th Avenue, and heading down the block to a house at 2857 SE 125th Avenue, situated in front of un-named townhome complex.

First-arriving officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, and a fourth person who had a minor injury. Officers provided trauma first aid, and summoned paramedics.
All of the victims were taken to local hospitals by ambulance – where, despite lifesaving measures, one of the victims died.
“The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived,” is all a PPB spokesperson would say at the time about the investigation.

On November 18, Portland Police revealed that the person who died was 14-year-old Marik Roscoe. The Medical Examiner determined Roscoe died of “homicide by gunshot wound”.
A 17-year-old and 42-year-old, both males, were also shot, but they are expected to survive. A 19-year-old male was also injured, and he also is expected to survive.

In addition, two days later, the police spokesperson reaffirmed that no arrests had been made. “The investigation into this incident remains open and ongoing. At this stage, detectives do not believe this was a random act,” the official told reporters – presumably meaning that all the victims appeared to have been targeted.
