Within 22 minutes of the dispatch, eight Portland Police Bureau officers are on the scene of a threat-with-a-weapon incident at an apartment complex in Southeast Portland.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers converged on an inner Southeast Portland apartment complex on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 6:12 p.m., when a “Threat-with-Weapon” call sent them to the 7100 block of SE Powell Boulevard.
Officers search complex
Eight PPB East Precinct cruisers rolled into the parking lot of the Barrington Square apartments, at 7123 SE Powell, between 6:15 and 6:37 p.m. The complex is just east of the 7-Eleven store at the corner of Powell and 71st.

Woman briefly detained
Officers moved through the parking lot and into the rear of one building, out of public view. A female Portland Police Enhanced Crisis Intervention Team officer also worked the call.
At one point, a woman in the lot was handcuffed; officers later removed the restraints and released her at the scene.
PPB: Altercation involved a fake firearm
Public Information Manager Mike Benner characterized the call as “unremarkable”: “Nothing incredibly exciting here. Officers responded and determined there was an altercation between several people, and a fake firearm might have been used in a threatening manner.”
He added, “At this time, no arrests have been made, and the case has been referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.”
About two hours after officers arrive on the threat-with-a-weapon call, they release a female subject from handcuffs in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
