New ‘Rose Photo Contest’ leads up to April’s ‘82nd Avenue of Roses Parade’

See how you can participate in the 20th anniversary of the outer East Portland’s only parade – the deadline for your photo entries is March 6 …

Here’s an example of a photo that an amateur photographer might consider entering into the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade’s new event, the “Rose Photo Contest”.

To celebrate the 20th year of the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade, coming up on Saturday, April 25th, volunteers from the producers – 82 Roses Community Enrichment Coalition – announced that they’re holding a “Rose Photo Contest” that’s open to the public, with participation especially encouraged from our local schools; and the deadline is coming up fast: March 6th.

“The Rose Photo Contest invites amateur photographers to submit photos online for judging in four categories,” competition director Larry Smith told East Portland News.

“All of the photo entries will be displayed online, in a professional photo gallery, and highlighted in a video shared on social media sites,” Smith announced. “Winning photos will be printed and displayed in community spaces along 82nd Avenue.”

Winning photographers will receive a framed print of their submission, and a gift certificate from Portland Nursery and supporting sponsors of the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade. “And, a Grand Prize Winner, selected from the top winning entries, will be awarded a $100 cash prize!” exclaimed Smith.
