Portland Police officers roll into the Argay Terrace neighborhood after a midday rollover crash injures a driver and scatters debris along N. E. 125th Place.

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 12:12 p.m., Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers were dispatched on an Accident – Injury call to the 4200 block of N. E. 125th Place in the Argay Terrace neighborhood of outer East Portland.
Officers trace crash location, find overturned SUV
On that clear, sunny Sunday afternoon, officers initially searched the area of N. E. Shaver Street and 125th Place, where the dispatch first pointed.
A short time later, an unmarked PPB detective vehicle was seen heading northbound on N. E. 122nd Avenue from N. E. Fremont Street toward the developing scene.
After being struck, this damaged Toyota remains where it was pushed up onto the sidewalk along N. E. 125th Place.
Dispatch records showed the response quickly grew. After the first units arrived in the early afternoon, the number of PPB units on scene eventually climbed to eight as the incident unfolded.
The crash site was located on N. E. 125th Place about halfway between N. E. Shaver Street and N. E. Prescott Drive.

There, officers found a large Mercedes-Benz ML 350 mid-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle overturned in the driveway entrance of the Hidden Oaks Apartments complex at 4545 N. E. 125th Place, on the west side of the street. Yellow police boundary tape marked off the immediate area as officers documented the scene.
‘Crime scene’ perimeter mysteriously expands
Shortly after this reporter arrived, the “crime scene” perimeter expanded and we were asked to vacate our position, across the street from the wreck scene, as officers chose to close off the road roughly two blocks in both directions along N. E. 125th Place.
Along N. E. 125th Place, here’s a look at the Mercedes-Benz ML 350, rolled onto its side in the driveway entrance.
In this view, the damage to the Toyota is evident in the crumpled rear driver’s-side quarter and the car’s back end pushed up onto the sidewalk.
Farther north, more tape encircled a parked Toyota Camry XLE that appeared to have been struck as part of the same incident. The car’s rear driver’s-side quarter was hit with enough force that its back end rested up on the sidewalk along the west side of N. E. 125th Place, and officers treated it as part of the broader scene.
When asked about the expanded perimeter and the unusual midday smashup, the PPB Public Information Office did not directly address those questions, but a PPB official provided additional details from the investigation.
As the scene expands, this officer strings up yellow police tape across N. E. 125th Place to close the street around the rollover crash investigation.
PPB: Parked cars struck before vehicle rolls
According to Portland Police, officers from North Precinct responded to the injury crash after reports that a vehicle struck parked vehicles before rolling in the 4200 block of N. E. 125th Place. Officers arrived within minutes of the call.
Paramedics responded and the adult male driver of the overturned SUV was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The PPB statement indicated that the extent of his injuries was not yet known at the time of the release. No other injuries were reported.
Due to the seriousness of the crash and the damage to vehicles, the PPB Traffic Division Major Crash Team responded to take over the investigation at the scene.
Major Crash Team continues investigation
As the afternoon went on, additional patrol units and traffic investigators cycled through the taped-off blocks of N. E. 125th Place, documenting damage to the overturned SUV, the parked Toyota and other evidence along the street.
Now, as seen from a distance from the crash area, investigators continue documenting the overturned SUV and other evidence along N. E. 125th Place.
Investigators worked to determine how fast the SUV had been traveling, how it struck the parked vehicles and what caused it to roll in the apartment driveway entrance on an otherwise quiet Sunday. So far, none of that information has been released.
