Male trio in Lents, outraging public decency, also arrested for assault

There’s much still unknown about these three men, who allegedly assaulted a person in front of a convenience store just north of Lents Park …

Portland Police patrol vehicles, and an AMR ambulance, arrive almost simultaneously in the Lents Park Grocery parking lot – after a man was assaulted by three suspects, all with the same last name, who had objected to what they were doing.

On the wintry evening of Saturday, November 22, three men were creating a problem in the parking lot of the Lents Park Grocery, at the intersection of SE 92nd Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers were dispatched to this “Disturbance” at 8:59 p.m.

After the assaulted man is in the ambulance, officers discuss their investigation.

Someone at the scene who’d contacted the 9-1-1 Center about the unfolding incident, apparently requested an ambulance also be sent; it was dispatched at 9:01 p.m. – arriving one minute before the first of five PPB officers and one Oregon State Patrol (OSP) trooper pulled up.

After the victim was placed in the ambulance, it remained stopped in the parking lot instead of rushing off to a hospital, suggesting that his injuries did not appear to be serious.

“Officers responded to this call, and determined that an adult male confronted three men who were urinating and breaking bottles in a parking lot,” revealed PPB Public Information Manager Mike Benner.

“The three men proceeded to assault the man who had confronted them,” Benner told East Portland News. Benner did not respond to our questions about the nature or seriousness of the assaulted person’s injuries – but he did disclose that all three suspects were arrested.

Officers gather to compare their findings in the investigation.

Interestingly, all three had the same surname: Sellet. Apparently, however, they are not related – the suspects’ booking records indicates each of the men is of a different nationality.

Arrested were:

28-year-old Stephenavic Sellet was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) later that evening at 11:22 p.m. on two counts of the Class C Felony “Assault in the Third Degree”; and Misdemeanor charges of “Assault in the Fouth Degree”, Theft in the Third Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. Currently Stephenavic Sellet remains in custody at Inverness Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Next, 25-year-old Winslow Moulten Sellet was booked into the MCDC at 11:36 p.m., also on charges of two counts of the Class C Felony charge of Assault in the Third Degree; and Misdemeanor charges of Assault in the Fouth Degree, which the court dismissed at arraignment. On November 25, Winslow Moulten Sellet was released from custody. Release reason: Bail Paid.

Finally, 31-year-old Darrington Moulten Sellet was booked into the MCDC at 11:45 p.m., also on charges of two counts of the Class C Felony charge of Assault in the Third Degree; and Misdemeanor charges of Assault in the Fouth Degree, which the court dismissed at arraignment. At this time, Darrington Moulten Sellet remains in custody at Inverness Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

With three suspects detained, each in a different patrol car, the investigation continues.

By the way, OSP’s involvement was minimal, Benner reported. “It appears they were involved in a stop of the suspect vehicle,” he revealed.
