Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers responded on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 7:28 p.m. to a report of Robbery – With Weapon in the area of East Burnside Street and 125th Place in the Hazelwood neighborhood of outer East Portland, after a liquor store near N. E. 122nd Avenue and Glisan Street was reported robbed at gunpoint.
Officers converge on Hazelwood dead-end
Although the incident was dispatched to the dead-end area of N. E. 125th Place, that short street does not connect with East Burnside Street. Approaching from N. E. Glisan Street, officers were located N. E. 125th Place and Couch Street.
As night falls, PPB officers move into a residential area about a half mile southeast of the store while tracking the armed robbery suspect.
Uniformed officers went back and forth through a wooden fence posted with a “No Trespassing” sign, conducting a yard-by-yard search in the immediate area.
Flashlights swept through backyards and around outbuildings as they looked for any sign of the suspect believed to have fled into the neighborhood.

PPB: liquor store robbed at gunpoint
In response to an information request from East Portland News, PPB Public Information Officer Terri Wallo Strauss provided an overview of what brought officers to the scene.
“Officers responded to this call and determined a liquor store in the area of N. E. 122nd and Glisan had been robbed at gunpoint,” Wallo Strauss related in a written response to East Portland News. “Numerous resources were used to track the suspect to a nearby neighborhood. Approximately 9:20 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody without incident.”
Further checking determined that the search for the suspect was about a half-mile southeast of Menlo Park Liquor, Beer, Wine Store, at 11936 N. E. Glisan Street, was the business that had been held up.
In the back of their patrol SUV, officers appear to have placed a case booze that may contain evidence from the liquor store robbery.
Suspect identified and booked into jail
East Portland News followed up with PPB asking who had been arrested in connection with this armed robbery. PPB Public Information Manager Mike Benner responded that the suspect is 30-year-old Jevon Tabius Miles, arrested on Robbery II charges.
According to Multnomah County booking records, Miles was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) at 12:05 a.m. on September 23, 2026 on a charge of Robbery II, a B felony, after being arrested by PPB East Precinct officers.
Jail records also show a county hold listed as “County Hold (U Unknown)” with bail set at $5,000. The Robbery II charge carries no listed bail and is shown as “Unsentenced.” The assigned facility for Miles later changed to Inverness Jail, with a projected release date listed as “Unknown.” Court, District Attorney, and citation numbers were not yet assigned at the time of the booking record.

Investigation continues
Detectives and officers continued to work in the Hazelwood neighborhood following the arrest, speaking with residents and checking properties along N. E. 125th Place and nearby streets as part of the follow-up investigation into the Menlo Park Liquor store holdup.
