Here’s what has been revealed about a shooting that apparently took place in East Multnomah County, but ended up in outer East Portland …

It’s dark and raining hard on this Glenfair neighborhood street, as police officers pull in to investigate the report of someone having been shot.

The “atmospheric river” flowing east over outer East Portland on Tuesday evening, December 16, significantly dampened police activity, as most potential witnesses stayed in their homes nearby.
But, at 10:44 p.m., six Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers, and one ambulance, were called to an unpaved portion of NE 157th Avenue, north of Couch Street, after a call came in about someone suffering from a gunshot there.
It was difficult for East Portland News to make out what was taking place at the scene, due to poor street lighting and all the wind-blown rain. One thing that was clear was that a person was receiving medical attention there.

With a shooting victim onboard, the ambulance heads away toward a local hospital.
The following day, PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen filled us in on what was taking place. “Officers responded to this call and located an adult male who had been shot in the leg,” he told East Portland News.
“However, the shooting didn’t happen at this location,” Sergeant Allen continued. “The individual shot alleges it happened in Gresham earlier in the evening; so an officer notified the Gresham Police Department.”
The male shooting victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, confirmed Sergeant Allen: “If there is to be an investigation regarding this incident, it will be done by the Gresham Police.”
