Week #183 Shooting Report | UPDATED | Here’s the latest death by gunfire, once again in our Centennial neighborhood …
An ambulance is called to a Centennial apartment in the 16500 block of SE Bush Street, to rush a gunshot-wounded man to the hospital – but he later died.

After shots were heard out in one of the single-story apartment units along SE Bush Street near 165th Avenue, early on Thursday, December 14th, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers responded at 1:24 a.m. When they arrived, officers found at he crime scene an adult male victim.
“The man was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. However, despite lifesaving measures, the shooting victim died,” a PPB spokesperson conceded.

It wasn’t long until SE Bush Street was filled with police vehicles between 165th and 166th Avenues, as detectives from the PPB’s Homicide Unit arrived to investigate the deadly shooting incident.
Detectives and officers remained busy at the scene until about 11 a.m. that morning.

The suspect or suspects left the location before police arrived, and no arrests were mad at the time, the PPB official said.
UPDATE
On December 20, the PPB identified the shooting victim as this man, 58-year-old Richard Newman, of Portland. The Medical Examiner determined Newman died of homicide by gunshot wound. Family provided image
