It’s unclear who came upon the car containing the lifeless body of 43-year-old Jaquona Lakaya Goggans in the secluded parking lot shared by Foxy’s Den Eatery, Furniture Discounters PDX, and Portland Christian Center, on the evening of February 7.

But, whoever it was, their tip brought Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers there at 12:27 a.m. – behind the building shared by the three businesses on Division Street, accessed from SE 135th Avenue.

“Based on a preliminary investigation, officers requested Homicide Division detectives to respond to the scene to continue the investigation,” said an unnamed PPB representative.

Although the main thoroughfare would soon be reopened, police close off SE 135th Avenue, from Division Street to Powell Boulevard.

Oddly, officers and medical personnel first reported the deceased person appeared to be a man.

Although the Oregon State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, officials have yet to release that information, other than to call the death “suspicious”.
