Our July story, “Hundreds enjoy two-night ‘Summer Arts Fest’ in Ventura Park“, showed what it was like when Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) launched its “Summer Free for All” in outer East Portland with East Portland Summer Arts Festival concerts – on Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13 – and again in Ventura Park.

Folks started filtering into Sellwood Park late Saturday afternoon, August 24, to attend the only last “Summer Free for All” event put on by PP&R.
Writing a story about music is like hearing about delicious food. So, take a look at video highlights of this great event:
By the time the “Too Loose Cajun/Zydeco Band” took the stage, the park was teeming with people. Couples and families were enjoying the picnic suppers they’d brought; individuals were lounging here and there on the lawn, ready for the music to begin.
As a good sized crowd gathers for their concert, members of the “Too Loose Cajun/Zydeco Band” posed for our photo, just before showtime.
As the band started up with their lively Cajun-based music, a few couples couldn’t stay seated. First one, then two, then many couples began dancing on the lawn in front of the stage – to the delight of the musicians.
