Along SE Powell Boulevard, at the intersection of 84th Avenue – that’s the dividing line between the Lents and Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhoods – a woman crossing the street was hit by a passing vehicle after dark on Tuesday evening, February 4.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers, who were dispatched to the incident at 7:33 p.m., arrived to find the pedestrian seriously injured.

Waiting for investigators, officers close off SE Powell Boulevard at 82nd Avenue of Roses.

Officers begin their investigation of the pedestrian-injury crash involving a hit-and-run driver.
“Paramedics arrived and transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where she remains in serious condition,” a PPB spokesperson told reporters.
The officers learned that the driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene; Portland Police officials didn’t disclose what kind of vehicle is suspected of running down the pedestrian.

-4 Officers look for evidence along SE Powell Boulevard after the crash.
Due to the severity of the woman’s injuries, the PPB’s Major Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate, closing SE Powell Boulevard from 82nd Avenue of Roses, east to 86th Avenue.

This investigation continues on, into the evening.
