Over the course of five days, Portland Police Bureau officers and detectives investigated two separate shooting cases that brought wounded patients to the Emergency Room of Adventist Health Portland, at 10123 S. E. Market Street in outer East Portland.
On Sunday morning, July 26, at 8:39 a.m., and again on Friday, July 31, just after 8:03 a.m., officers responded to the same hospital after shooting victims were brought in by medical personnel.

Officers investigate shooting victim brought to Adventist Health Portland
Officers respond to the Hazelwood neighborhood E.D. after an early‑morning shooting victim is brought in for treatment.
According to dispatch information from the Portland Bureau of Emergency Communications (BOEC), officers were sent to the Emergency Department of Adventist Health Portland after a wounded person was brought in with what were believed to be gunshot wounds.
Officers arrived to investigate the circumstances that led to the victim winding up in the hospital. Investigators worked gathering evidence, and discovering where the shooting occurred, before the injured person was taken to Adventist Health Portland.

Homicide detectives probe suspicious death after shooting report
PPB Homicide Unit detectives focus on this Hazelwood neighborhood emergency entrance as they investigate a suspicious death tied to a Friday‑morning shooting call.
On Friday morning, officers assigned to PPB’s East Precinct responded once again to Adventist Health Portland after an adult male was brought to the hospital by medical personnel, following another “Shooting” victim was reported entering the Emergency Room at 10123 S.E. Market Street. He was shortly afterward pronounced dead.
According to a PPB spokesperson, the circumstances of the man’s arrival and his condition prompted a callout for detectives from the Bureau’s Homicide Unit.
UPDATE
Late on August 1, PPB Homicide detectives shared that the victim had been shot in a parking lot of Portland Nursery near the intersection of SE 92nd Avenue and Clinton Street.
Officers find “evidence of a shooting” some distance away from the hospital.
Earlier on Saturday, August 1, PPB East Precinct officers located a suspect and arrested him. Detectives responded, conducted additional investigation and examined evidence, then booked 45-year-old Jacob Ryan Clement, Portland, into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) at 1:11 p.m. on the Class A Felony charge of Murder in the Second Degree as well as Parole Violation. currently Clement is being held without bail at in the MCDC.

Twin shooting cases underscore ongoing gunfire concerns in outer East Portland
PPB has not indicated whether the two hospital‑based shooting cases are connected, or if they stem from unrelated incidents elsewhere in the city. Taken together, the investigations highlight ongoing concerns about gunfire affecting neighborhoods served by Adventist Health Portland in outer East Portland.
