We no longer have polling places, but that doesn’t change the fact the August 11 is an election day – this one, for the “Special Runoff Election” to determine who will claim the Portland City Council seat formerly filled by the late Nick Fish.
While it’s too late to mail your postage-paid ballot, please do your part, citizen of outer East Portland, by dropping it off at an official pickup site before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11.
“After August 6, voters should use the Official Ballot Drop Sites that are open for this Special Runoff Election,” advised Multnomah County Communications Coordinator Denis Theriault.
“Those Official Ballot Drop sites include 24-Hour Drop Boxes, and 24-Hour Book Drop boxes, at the Multnomah County branch libraries located within the City of Portland,” Theriault clarified.
Your vote does make the difference
If every registered voter in outer East Portland in the election, we’d be the people electing the next Portland City Council member!

Although the campaigns of Dan Ryan and Loretta Smith were asked for candidate information by East Portland News, neither has responded at this writing.
