With hungry looks in their eyes, folks were streaming into the East Portland Community Center and heading toward the Cherry Blossom Meals on Wheels Center dining room, on the morning of October 25.
Their appetites were sated after they tucked into all-you-can-eat breakfasts featuring scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes – along with coffee and orange juice, to wash it down.

“The pancake breakfast is our annual fund raising event,” smiled Cherry Blossom Meals on Wheels Center Director Guohui “Robin” Gao.
“Many of the people who have come in are our regular drivers,” Gao told East Portland News. “And, we have met many people who are just coming in to enjoy breakfast and to support us.”

As they have in past years, the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers’ Local 63 sponsored the outer East Portland event. “They purchase all of the food, and help prepare it,” Gao explained.
Additionally, volunteers from Kaiser Permanente and Humana also volunteered their time to cook and serve guests beside regular Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Clearly, no one left hungry, and the Cherry Blossom Meals on Wheels Center prospered by the donations that support their efforts.
