There seemed to be no good reason for a two-car collision that took place about 1:15 p.m. on August 5 in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood.
This wreck along SE Foster Road, didn’t involve any pedestrians, but it sent two people to the hospital.
A smashed Acura 2.3 CL coupe and an upturned Honda Element remain in the intersection, while paramedics tend to the occupants, injured in the crash.
A burgundy Honda Element was turned on its side on SE 79th Avenue, about 20 feet north of SE Foster Road. A smashed white Acura 2.3 CL coupe (2-door) sat on SE Foster Road.
The crew of Portland Fire & Rescue Engine 11 helped extricate the driver of the Honda SUV. Both drivers were transported to a hospital for observation and treatment.
This Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division officer investigates the crash.
A Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division officer told East Portland News that, based on their initial investigation, the Honda Element was traveling southbound on SE 79th Avenue.
“Either it didn’t stop before entering SE Foster Road, or didn’t heed the oncoming westbound Acura,” the officer said. “The Honda was struck on the driver’s side, rolled over, and slid away from the intersection.”
Paramedic attends to a victim injured in this crash.
It is not yet known whether a citation was issued to the driver of either vehicle.
