Above the howl of the wind and hard rain, the sound of gunshots were heard in the area of SE 120th Avenue and Harold Street on Thursday evening, October 13, at 9:14 p.m.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct district officers rolled to the area, but didn’t find a victim.
“Officers spoke to witnesses who told then they heard gunfire and vehicles leaving the area,” said PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Inside his vehicle, an officer ducks out of the wind and rain at the shooting crime scene.
A second call to the 9-1-1 Center a few minutes later brought more officers to the area, this time to a residence near SE 122nd Avenue and Holgate Boulevard, where they’d learned a 16-year-old man was suffering from a gunshot wound.
“Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim suffering from a non-life-threatening injury,” Simpson said. “He was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment.”
Based on information learned at the scene, Simpson added, the PPB Gang Enforcement Team is conducting the investigation.
