Find out why official say it most likely wasn’t the fault of the driver …
Fortunately, only one patron was slightly injured when this SUV piled into the Stark Street Pub, in the Centennial neighborhood.

The driver and passenger of a late model Saab 9-7X mid-size luxury SUV – and patrons of a neighborhood bar – were terrified, when the vehicle slammed into the entrance area of the outer East Portland bar at 1:20 p.m. on February 13.
The Saab came to a rest about half way into the Stark Street Pub, at 14270 SE Stark Street.
The driver and passenger stand to the right of their SUV, now firmly embedded in the front of the building.
“We were driving [eastbound on SE Stark Street] in the outside lane,” said the passenger, who declined to identify herself. “Another [vehicle] swerved, like the driver was changing lanes without looking.”
The vehicle clipped the front their SUV, sending it off the street, up the driveway, and launching it into the front door area of the tavern.
“East Precinct officers and medical personnel arrived and contacted the driver, who suffered minor injuries,” said Portland Police Bureau Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.
While staff watches inside, a wrecker winches the damaged SUV out of the pub’s former entrance.
“One person inside the bar also received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries,” Simpson added.
“Information gathered indicates that a green SUV driven by an unknown person, hit the victim vehicle, causing it to crash into the bar, and fled the scene before police arrival, Simpson said.
Officers head into the pub as the crash investigation continues.
Anyone with information on the suspect or suspect vehicle is asked to call the Police Non-Emergency Line at 503-823-3333, reference case #16-48158.
