It was an otherwise peaceful summer evening, for patrons of Maddy’s Bar & Grill at 11252 NE Sandy Boulevard, when an angry verbal exchange arose, resulting in a multiple stabbing attack.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) North Precinct officers were called to the establishment at 9:02 p.m. on September 2 to investigate.
“When officers arrived at the location, they were contacted by a male adult victim, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds,” recounted PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.
An AMR ambulance prepares to take the stabbing victim to the hospital.
“Medical personnel transported the victim to a Portland hospital for treatment for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries,” Simpson added.
Officers learned that the victim and the male adult suspect were both in the bar and got into an argument, resulting in the stabbing. The suspect fled the area prior to police arriving.
Officers came into the area, and soon a PPB K-9 police dog had the scent and was tracking the suspect. After what Simpson characterized as “an extensive neighborhood search”, officers located a suspect.

The description police had received matched the suspect they later found, namely a 6’4″ 190 lb 49-year-old Byron Eddie Davis.
Davis was booked in to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) at 1:05 a.m. the next morning on one count of Assault in the Second Degree, and he remains in custody in lieu of $250,000 bail. Davis also faces Parole Violation charges.
