Stabbing leaves man critically injured, outside Argay bar

There’s no official word about what caused the scuffle, but the result was tragic for one late-night patron …

This outer East Portland lounge is typically a fun, low-key establishment, regulars say.

As closing time neared, early on March 8, at about 1:05 a.m., police and medical personnel were racing to the parking lot of the Venture Inn, located at 13900 NE Sandy Boulevard, in the Argay Neighborhood.

First responders found, lying amidst the few remaining vehicles there, a man – bleeding from what Portland Police Bureau Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson described as “multiple stab wounds”.

“Officers learned that the man was involved in a fight with another man in the parking lot, prompting the 9-1-1 call,” Simpson said. “Medical personnel responded and transported him to a Portland hospital where he is in critical condition.”

Paramedics rush the injured man away on a gurneyThe suspect, Simpson reported, was described as a dark-skinned African American male with long, braided hair. “Officers checked the neighborhood, but did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s description.”
