It was a relatively quiet afternoon on October 15th at Lotos Deli and Kung Fu BBQ, across the parking lot from Popeye’s Chicken, at 3611 NE 82nd Avenue of Roses.
But, just minutes after 2:00 p.m., the mom-and-pop establishment – tucked into the small strip mall in the Roseway neighborhood – was stuck up by a female armed robber in informal footwear – slippers.
“Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim,” said Portland Police Bureau Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson. “The victim said that the suspect displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the business.”

Eight officers responded to the incident. “Several officers checked the area, but did not locate the suspect,” Simpson informed.
After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, Simpson said the woman left in an unknown direction.
When East Portland News arrived not long after the armed robbery, officers were reviewing video surveillance images and developing suspect information.
