Man dies of gunshot wounds on the front porch of a Centennial house
Soon, PPB cruisers fill the street, as the investigation gets underway.
Two days after Thanksgiving Day, on November 25, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers were dispatched at 10:14p.m. to a report of shots fired on SE 154th Avenue at Rhone Street, just north of Powell Butte.
As officers pulled up, they were looking for, and found, a person wounded at a home.. In fact, the adult male victim had already died on his front porch.
PPB Homicide detectives check in with patrol officers at the crime scene.
Detectives from the PPB Homicide Unit were called in to investigate. Soon, 14 PPB vehicles filled SE 154th Avenue – closing it off between Powell Boulevard and Francis Street.
Detectives learned that a suspect or suspects left even before police were called; and so far no arrests have been made.

On November 29, PPB officials revealed that the deceased in this – the latest fatal outer East Portland shooting – had been identified as 50-year-old James David Mack. The Medical Examiner determined that Mack died of homicide by gunshot wound.
