In keeping with the Rossi family’s mission of supporting the local farming community, the Rossi Pumpkin Patch has returned to Rossi Farms.
“We got a lot of phone calls from people who said they we’re really hoping that we’d have a pumpkin patch here again this fall,” smiled Gabrielle Rossi, on a sunny Sunday at the farm.
The Nakato family from the Mt. Tabor area spends a moment with Pumpkin Patch hostess and manager, Gabrielle Rossi.
“My dad and I decided to have a free pumpkin patch, where families could come play, feed the goats, climb hay bales, go on hayrides, and take selfies and family pictures – all without charge,” Rossi told East Portland News.
Yes, visitors can buy reasonably-priced pumpkins – grown in Corbett by Calcagno Family Farms – as well as squash and some fruits and fall vegetables in the barn, but all of the activities are free, she said.
Taking out another wagonload of families for a free hayride is tractor driver Conan Walery.
They cut the decorative corn stalks they were using out at Spada Farms at NE 158th and Sandy Boulevard, Rossi said, adding that that farm also has a Pumpkin Patch this year.
“The best part of this for me is seeing the families who come back every year,” Rossi said.
Playing on the “hay castle”, inspecting the pumpkins, or going for a hayride, visiting families have a good time.
“We get to see the kids as they grow up, and watch them have a good time here, without having to spend a lot of money,” Rossi concluded.
Rossi Farms is located at 3839 NE 122nd Avenue, 97230? (just south of NE Shaver Street). For more information, see their official website: CLICK HERE.
