Another “first” for folks involved with the Rosewood Initiative Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative was their “Mother’s Day Bazaar” held the afternoon of May 3.
“Today’s market is another good way to showcase the talent and skill here in the mid-County area of East Portland,” said the event’s organizer, AmeriCorp Vista worker Tony Lamb.
AmeriCorp Vista member Tony Lamb spends a moment co-organizer and vendor, Brenda Fields.
“It is important to have events like this to showcase some of the positive stories coming out of East County,” Lamb told East Portland News.
“Many times you hear negative stuff,” Lamb pointed out. “We just want to show that there are hard-working, entrepreneurially-gifted people who live and work in this area.
“We also want to show how important mother is,” Lamb said with a twinkle in his eye, “and remember that mom is awesome, and get her something great for Mother’s Day.”
Many come by the Rosewood Initiative for this unique showcase event.

Part of their program, Lamb informed, goes beyond the one-afternoon showcase. “We’re helping people gain applied business skills by partnering with the Portland State University business education program. All of our vendors can meet with them, and have free, one-on-one consulting, to help them grow and expand their business.”
