While many volunteers are pitching in, helping schools get ready for another year – a pair of thugs decided to burglarize and vandalize West Powellhurst Elementary School, at 2921 SE 116th Avenue, on the night of July 27.

“They broke a window or two,” David Douglas School District spokesman Dan McCue told East Portland News.

“They apparently took two computers, but those were recovered out in the bushes,” McCue added. “The computers were damaged.”

But the hoodlums were caught on surveillance video breaking into, and then moving around inside, the school. And the images are pretty good. Maybe you recognize one or both…?

“In cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, the Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects,” said Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Both are described as white males in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a light-colored tank top and shorts. The other was wearing a dark-colored tank top and shorts.

It looks like this guy is thinking, “I wonder if that really is a security camera pointed at me?” Yes, it is, genius. DDSD surveillance photo
