Powellhurst-Gilbert man shot multiple times

Here’s why outer SE Powell Boulevard was blocked for hours. It appears to have been a ‘drive-by shooting’ …

In outer East Portland, police block off westbound lanes of SE Powell Boulevard in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood, after a man found suffering “multiple gunshot wounds”.

Many drivers were frustrated when they found that westbound SE Powell Boulevard was closed off at 136th Avenue due to police activity, on Monday afternoon, August 31. The designated detour was narrow, and vehicles clogged it. There are not many viable detours in this section of the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.

As many as ten Portland Police squad cars were dispatched to look into the report of a person shot near the Lynn Park Apartments, at 13015 S.E. Powell Boulevard.

Officers discuss some of the evidence found at the scene.

“When officers arrived they found a victim – an adult male, with multiple gunshot wounds,” recounted PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen. “Officers secured the scene, and applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg; the victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.”

An officer and Crime Scene Investigator locate bullet holes.

Members of the PPB Forensics Division made their way to the scene, and began looking for holes made by one or more bullets penetrating a ground floor apartment.

“No suspect information is available, and no arrests have been made,” Allen reported.

If anyone was a witness and hasn’t yet spoken to officers, or has any video of this shooting, or simply has information about it, they are asked to contact the Portland Police Detective Division at 503-823-0400, or at crimetips@portlandoregon.gov; make reference to case #20-268575.
