Back on their regular schedule, 27 neighbors and guests filled the room as the Lents Neighborhood Livability Association (LNLA) meeting got underway on Thursday evening, April 10.

Before the formal meeting started, guests treated themselves to a pizza-and-snacks buffet as they chatted at tables and waited for the arrival of two City Council members for their district, who were the featured guests at the meeting.

Neighbors and friends find their place to sit at this LNLA meeting.

LNLA Chair David Potts started off the meeting, reminding all of their monthly “Neighbor 2 Neighbor” helping session, the biweekly “WestRock Cleanups”, the VFW Breakfast – and encouraged participation at the then-upcoming 19th annual 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade.

City Councilor District 1 Jamie Dunphy and City Councilor District 1 Loretta Smith chat with constituents after their arrival.

Then, Potts turned the meeting over to Commissioners Smith and Dunphy, who each expressed their own vision for the City of Portland, and expressed their mutual delight with Portland’s new form of government.

Next Lents Neighborhood Livability Association meeting on May 8 – This live and in-person meeting is from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. A light dinner will be served from 6:30 until 7 p.m.

Come join in, and learn about Trees for Life Oregon at the May LNLA meeting.

This month, join them and meet the “Tree People” – guest speakers are Kyna Rubin and Jim Gersbach from Trees for Life Oregon. They are adding much needed tree canopy to outer SE Portland, planting trees in the ‘bump outs’ along SE Duke Street.  Let them know your thoughts, and give them ideas of other areas to plant.

You’ll find the LNLA again meeting in the Community Connection Center located on the grounds of New Hope Church at 10603 SE Henderson Street. [Come in the front doors, turn right, go down the first hallway. Signs will point the way.] For more information, email lnla2018@gmail.com.
