Sorry, still no booking photos – but find out who was caught soliciting sex along NE 82nd Avenue of Roses and Sandy Boulevard last week …
Portland Police officers on a “directed patrol” mission, in the northern part of outer East Portland, stop and arrest men seeking sex for money.

In response to ongoing community complaints, and observed criminal activity affecting the livability of the area’s neighborhoods, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) assigned their Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) to “directed patrol efforts” along NE 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.
While not revealing their methods, the HTU officers kept an eye out for offenders in the Madison South, Parkrose, and Sumner neighborhoods – and they didn’t have to wait long to start taking “johns’ – would-be customers – into custody.

The HTU had the help of officers from all three Portland Precincts, the PPB’s Detective Division, the Special Resources Division, the Victim Services Unit, and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
Along on the mission, as well, were representatives of Safety Compass – an organization offering free and confidential advocacy services for survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking in Northwest Oregon.
Officers confer, while at a stop on this mission.

Safety Compass works to help potential victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking – such as these two individuals, who were talking to a police officer guarding a crime scene last July, along NE 82nd Avenue of Roses.
As stated, the PPB’s Victim Services Unit partnered with Safety Compass to offer help to those who identify as survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking. During the mission, about ten of these persons were contacted, and all were offered assistance – with resources, and other advocacy efforts.
If you know or suspect someone is being trafficked, please call 911, PPB’s non-emergency line 503-823-3333, and/or the National Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-373-7888. Tips can also be reported to: humantrafficking@police.portlandoregon.gov.
