Cars roared out of the area, and people scattered on foot, after shots were fired in the parking lot of the Laurel Place Apartments at 12530 SE Powell Court on the evening of October 18.
No suspects were in sight, and any witnesses willing to talk with officials were scarce, when Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers arrived just before 9:00 p.m. that Sunday evening to this outer East Portland location.
Officers discuss their findings with members of the PPB Gang Enforcement Team, after locating “gunshot evidence” in the parking lot.
Officers, later joined by the PPB Gang Enforcement Team, did locate four spent shell casings, and some drops of blood in the parking lot.
“Officers didn’t locate any victims,” said PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.
“Officers learned that there was a fight, possibly involving gang associates, prior to an unknown person or persons firing shots in the parking lot,” added Simpson. The matter is still under investigation.
