UPDATED | Here’s what’s known about this fatal overnight outer East Portland crash …
After a pedestrian is struck near Lents Park, officers close the road for an investigation to get underway.

Someone crossing S.E. Holgate Boulevard just west of the 92nd Avenue intersection was struck and killed in the middle of the night of January 23.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers, dispatched to the scene at 3:09 a.m. that morning, saw an injured person lying in the street and summoned an ambulance to speed the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver involved, an adult female, was operating a 2011 Toyota Camry and was westbound on S.E. Holgate Boulevard. “The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with the investigation, and showed no sign of impairment; no arrests have been made or citations issued,” a PPB official later reported.
Due to the obvious severity of the pedestrian’s injuries, the PPB’s Major Crash Team was called in to investigate. The pedestrian later died at the hospital
UPDATE:
On January 28, the PPB reported that the person killed in the crash had been identified as 64-year-old Mary L. Mark, of Portland.

And so, despite the seven-point, Portland Bureau of Transportation “Vision Zero” program “working to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on our streets”, a pedestrian jay-walks, and another traffic death occurs.
