A Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officer was patrolling the Centennial neighborhood district along SE Division Street near 157th Avenue on Tuesday evening, April 9 – and happened to come across a crash that’d had just taken place at 10:45 p.m., a block east, near the intersection of SE 158th Avenue.
Additional officers were dispatched, as was a crew from Portland Fire & Rescue and an ambulance.
With the crash victim inside, the ambulance heads for a nearby hospital.
“The collision was between a pedestrian and pickup truck,” a PPB spokesperson told East Portland News, without providing further details. “The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.”
The driver of the responsible pickup truck remained at the scene.
The PPB Major Crash Team comes to investigate this crash.
Due to the seriousness of the injuries – at the time, thought to perhaps prove fatal – the PPB Major Crash Team was called in to investigate. At that time, SE Division Street was shut down to both motor and non-motorized traffic between SE 157th and 160th Avenues.
We have as yet received no further information about the condition of the struck pedestrian.
