A few weeks ago, we showed you why Parkrose High School art instructor, Bev Cordova, had her students learning about, and making, masks.

As the holidays drew near, the project came to a close. Now, meet some of the artists – and the masks that were selected to go on display.
Parkrose freshman Tiana Artis says her mask isn’t representative of a culture or period in history. “I just thought it would be kind of cool to do it like this.”
Junior Brenna Beveridge says about her work of art, “One of my favorite animals is the red fox. So I decided to make a red fox – and feathers are a pretty decorative touch.”
Sophomore Isai Rojas was inspired to make two masks, he says. “One represents African culture, the other, Asia.”
Parkrose High senior Erling Obera says both these masks are inspired by cultures in Asia. “The one on the left is represents China; the dragon mask, Thailand.
Ms. Cordova said the mask exhibit will tour several Parkrose businesses over the coming months. “We want everyone in our community to see the fine works of art created by our students.”
