After gunshots rang out in the Montavilla neighborhood about 1:40 a.m. on August 18, a 9-1-1 operator received a call that someone at the scene was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency first responders rushed to the intersection of NE 80th Avenue and Glisan Street, and found a large crowd – and a 19-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries.
“The female was transported to a Portland hospital where she remains with serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, injuries,” said Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson.

“Officers also located two parked vehicles that had damage from gunfire; NE Glisan Street was closed from 78th to 80th Avenues for several hours, as investigators processed the crime scene,” Simpson added.
Preliminary information indicates that the shooting may have been connected to an earlier memorial gathering honoring the life of Ervaeua Herring, who was killed on August 17, 2014. [CLICK HERE to read about this case.]
“Based on information learned at the scene, the shooting is believed to be gang-related; there is no specific suspect information in either case,” Simpson said.
