With the popularity of family-friendly “Movies in the Park” programs run throughout outer East Portland during the summer, the “Movie Night” at Rossi Farms held on August 15 was definitely one for mature audiences.

Held near the Rossi outdoor movie screen, next to their Western set, this event was call “Horror Movie Night” – and the feature presentation was the 1974 American “slasher” film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, followed by the premiere of 2015 American supernatural horror film Sinister II, which is still playing in local cinemas.

Parkrose High graduate and now PSU freshman Ria Myrie, and PHS Senior Parris Le serve up food during Horror Movie Night.

“When Joe Rossi and his family presented ‘movie nights’, they showed films suitable for small children,” said Brandon Treadway, producer and owner of Fearworks Productions.

“This year, to get our audience ‘in the mood’ for Halloween this year, we thought we’d try a ‘Horror Movie Night’ instead, complete with monsters hanging around,” Treadway told East Portland News.

Flanked by his two greatest supporters, Mike and Denise Treadway, scaremaster Brandon Treadway says he’s ready for another spooky season in Parkrose.

Ten monsters or ghouls roamed around the area both before and during the movies. Most of these ghastly characters were accommodating – posing for “selfies” with guests.

The promotional team for the newer horror film, Sinister II, stopped by to hand out merchandise, and encourage folks to go see their scary movie that opened in area theaters late last month.

The Parkrose Haunted Ghost Town will be back again this year, better than ever, Treadway said.

This monster proves you don’t need to be big to be scary!

“The Haunted Ghost Town starts on October 8, and runs 15 nights through October, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 31,” Treadway promoted.

“Look for other special event nights – including college night, high school night, a trick-or-treat night for the little kids,” he added.
