Members and guests of the Midway Business Association (MBA) got together Wednesday evening, January 18, for a networking session in the big party room at Pizza Baron on SE 122nd Avenue, just south of Division.
As with all of Portland’s neighborhood business associations, the COVID-19 pandemic put a damper on Midway business gatherings and activities until recently.

“The MBA is in a ‘rebuilding phase’, as we’re looking toward rebuilding our Board of Directors,” remarked MBA Interim President Lorelei Young at the gathering.
“This year, we’re focusing on creating a ‘lighter sense’ in our community. Whether this is encouraging businesses to actually put up decorative and functional lighting, or have them ‘lighten the mood’ by displaying some type of public art,” she went on.
These business people don’t need an official agenda to meet and greet.
“As an example, we got a grant to install a large mural on the Octapharma Plasma building at SE 122nd Avenue at Powell Boulevard – look for that to be installed in the coming months!” Young told East Portland News.
“Also, we’re looking forward to doing some public engagement this year. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Arte Soleil for family-oriented events.

“Anyone who is interested in business, or in building our community, is invited to attend our community meetings; you don’t have to be a mentor member to attend.”
