Just getting together for an “After Hours Mixer” was the purpose of a Midway Business Association (MBA) gathering on February 21, at the combined offices of MLK Property Management and Ace Building Maintenance.
Some 20 people attended the gathering, many of them saying they appreciated the evening event because it was difficult to attend the monthly noontime meetings.
Those in attendance make new acquaintances and nosh on a buffet of light snacks.
“There is so much going on in Midway,” remarked Dr. David Day, DC, when he arrived.
“For example, at our January meeting, we gave feedback to Portland Parks & Recreation about the development of three area parks,” Day told East Portland News.
The neighborhood business district is also promoting a new “signature event” for Earth Day, April 22, at Powell Butte.
“We’re calling it ‘Business-to-Buttes’, and it will feature area businesses exhibiting, and also tours of the area, hiking, biking, and walks looking at the flora and fauna in the area,” Day explained.
MLK Property Management’s CEO Marcia Zimmerman greets MBA President Dr. David Day, DC, of Day Chiropractic, at the evening mixer.
“We’re also in the process of creating a ‘Passport’ idea to help encourage people to visit participating area businesses,” added Day.
Even though his chiropractic practice keeps him busy, Day reflected that being involved in the MBA is valuable to him. “I’m not only interested in what the MBA can do for my practice, but even more so, for the vitality of the area for all businesses.
“We want to be a livable place, and help people who live here actually shop in the area – by understanding all that is available to them right here, rather than driving someplace else to shop, eat, and recreate,” Day said.
