Monday, February 7 was 48-year-old Darryl Curry’s last day on earth – he died of stab wounds that night.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers were called to apartments near SE 125th Avenue and SE Division Street about 9:30 p.m. that evening, responding to the report of a stabbing.
From the start, it looked as if Curry had died at the scene, according to PPB Public Information Officer Lt. Robert King. “Officers called Homicide Detectives and the Forensic Evidence Division to the scene to conduct the investigation.”
Officials are holding this woman, 51-year-old Neta La Reica Mangum – charged in the stabbing death of Darryl Curry.
At 5:30 a.m. the following morning, detectives arrested 51-year-old Neta La Reica Mangum, charging her with Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Lt. King reported. “The Medical Examiner has determined stabbing as the manner and cause of death.”
Currently Mangum is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center in downtown Portland on $255,000.00 bail.
