No one knows why 40-year-old Enrico Reyes of Portland was lying in the middle of a traffic lane SE Stark Street, near 146th Avenue, just before 8:00 p.m. on November 12. But, as you might guess, it did not turn out well.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct officers were called to the scene, which was originally posted as an injury auto accident.

“Emergency medical personnel determined the Reyes was deceased at the scene,” said PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Burley.

The PPB Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team arrives and begins an investigation.

The Bureau’s Traffic Division officers in the Major Crash Team came to investigate the accident, along with criminalists from the Bureau’s Forensic Evidence Division.

“The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the crash location, and is cooperating with investigators,” Burley said.

SE Stark Street is closed until past midnight, while investigators gather evidence at the scene of this fatal crash.

At the conclusion of the investigation, officials said they determined that Reyes was lying on the roadway, before he was run over by a 2014 Honda Accord, being driven eastbound on SE Stark Street.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Officer Phil Maynard at 503-823-3809 or Phillip.Maynard@portlandoregon.gov
