On May 24, just as Sunday was about to turn into Monday, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers were dispatched at 11:58 p.m. to a location near SE Holgate Boulevard and 121st Avenue to investigate reports of a shooting.
PPB East Precinct officers found and secured a crime scene, and members of the Bureau’s Gun Violence Reduction Team arrived assist in the investigation.
“Investigators learned that an adult male victim, with a gunshot wound, had gone to a nearby hospital on his own,” remarked PPB Public Information Officer Nola Watts.
Hospitals in the region report incoming gunshot and stabbing wounds to authorities, explained Watts.
Police close off an area near SE Holgate Boulevard while investigators look into the shooting.
“Given the circumstances of the incident, there is no threat to the community,” Watts said. There have been no arrests and officers are still searching for the assailant.
That being the situation, Watts asked that anyone with any information about the shooting, and who has not been interviewed by officers, to contact Detective Todd Teats at 503-823-2137, or at todd.teats@portlandoregon.gov – or, alternatively, Detective Jeffery Pontius at 502-823-2081, or via email at Jeffery.pontius@portlandoregon.gov.
