In addition to having responded to a murder in the Lents neighborhood on May 24, detectives are called to another outer East Portland murder scene, the very next day, in the Centennial neighborhood.

When police found the body of a man shot to death in the front yard of a house on SE Reedway Street, between 103rd and 104th Avenues, on Friday morning, May 24, neighbors were understandably concerned.

Two days after this homicide, Gresham Police Department officers arrested a suspect – later named as 19-year-old Michael Christopher Ramirez – not only for this homicide, but for another murder in the Centennial neighborhood. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center at 12:04 a.m. on May 26.
Police tape off the crime scene area where the body of a second man was found, also alleged to have been murdered by Ramirez.
According information from the office of Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill, released on June 17, Ramirez was indicted in Multnomah County District Court for the “unlawfully and intentionally caused deaths of Sergey Peshkov and Lorenzo Gordon.
44-year-old Sergey Peshkov was the man that Portland Police Bureau officers found dead in a yard on SE Reedway Street. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Peshkov had died of gunshot wounds.

According to court papers, on the following day, May 25, about 8:00 p.m., police found the body 18-year-old Lorenzo Gordon near the intersection of SE 162nd Avenue and Stark Street in the Springtree Apartments parking lot. He, too, was found to have died of a gunshot wound.
Ramirez was arraigned on June 18. At his arraignment, learned he’d face to Felony Murder charges, and two Felony charges for Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Currently, Ramirez is being held without bail at Inverness Jail.
