Two fatal shootings this week did not take place in outer East Portland; a pleasant change:  Friday, June 23, saw two shooting homicides; one in the Hollywood area, one in the Lloyd District.

However, early on June 23, in outer East Portland, there was an outer East Portland injury shooting along the Springwater Trail.

June 23 at 2:33 a.m.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) North Precinct officers were in the Hollywood District, near NE Sandy Boulevard and Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard when they heard gunfire nearby.

Moments later the officers located a vehicle crashed into a pole near NE Broadway and Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. Officers found the driver deceased and the passenger injured. Both had wounds consistent with gunshots. This incident is Case No. 23-164650.

June 23 at 9:47 p.m.

In the Lloyd District, PPB Central Precinct officers responded to a “Shooting-with-Weapon” call at NE 6th Avenue and Holladay Street.

When officers arrived, they located a wounded adult man and applied trauma first aid, while summoning emergency medical services. However the victim died at the scene. This is Case No. 23-165334.

Man shot in Lents, along Springwater Trail

Officers pull up along SE 82nd Avenue of Roses at the Springwater Trail after a camper has been reportedly shot.

PPB East Precinct officers were dispatched to an area just east of SE 82nd Avenue of Roses on the Springwater Trail on a “Shooting-with Weapon” call.

“Arriving officers found an adult male victim who had been shot and injured,” PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Kevin Allen told East Portland News.

“He appeared to have sustained non life-threatening injuries,” Sgt. Allen continued. “The person was taken to a local hospital for treatment,” he added.

The PPB’s ECST detectives responded and continue to investigate the incident; no immediate arrests have been made. This is Case No. 23-164723.

Officers cordon off the area while they investigate a shooting in a “manufactured home community”.

Another “Shooting-with-Weapon” call dispatched PPB North Precinct officers to a “manufactured home community” along NE Lombard Street, just west of 72nd Avenue.

When officers arrived in the area, behind the Cedar Shade Mobile Home Park, they found a female adult with a gunshot wound to her arm. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. After treatment, the victim was later released from the hospital.

More officers arrive to maintain the crime scene while the investigation continues.

Officers investigated and learned that the suspect was known to the victim, and they located him in a home within the residential park and detained him at the scene.
Detectives with the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded and assumed the investigation.

~ Shots Fired Log ~

It’s been a while since we checked the number of “Shots Fired” calls to which PPB officers were recently dispatched. We’re back up to 33 calls this week.

Each and every one of them took place in outer East Portland – there were double this amount citywide. Officers don’t find “evidence of shooting” at all of these calls.
