Leach Holiday wreaths sell out quickly at Winterfest

INCLUDES FESTIVE VIDEO | Here’s how the Leach Botanical Garden Winterfest went, this year, in outer East Portland …

In the Pleasant Valley neighborhood, behind the fence at Leach Botanical Garden, Holiday activities were taking place at the Winterfest!

Organizers promised there would be “many more Holiday Wreaths to choose from this year, either traditionally or botanically decorated — all of them unique,” at the Leach Botanical Garden Winter Fest and Wreath Sale held on December 2.

By the time we arrived at noon, there wasn’t anything to see at the Wreath Sale in the Upper Garden at the Arbor. They sold out fast – again!

Welcoming guests in the Leach Botanical Garden Manor House, here’s Program Director Jami LeBaron.

“It’s true, even though we’d brought double the number of wreaths this year – they all sold out less than an hour after we opened,” ruefully confirmed Leach Garden Friends Program Director Jami LeBaron.

Take a look and get a taste of what it was like to visit the Leach Winterfest in our video:

“It’s nice to see people out in the wintertime here at the Garden, when most people are at home, warm and cozy,” LeBaron remarked. “Ours is a very sweet community that’s willing to get bundled up and come out to enjoy the beauty of the garden.”

Providing music of the season, here are Kathleen Staub – playing a Celtic Harp – and Colin Staub with a mandolin.

However, down in the Leach Manor House, visitors were enjoying free refreshments – as well as spiced wine and cider for purchase. The main room had tables set up with crafts for kids; but many adults were also enjoying making projects there.

Helping customers in the Leach Botanical Garden Gift Shop, we see volunteers Eileen Eckart and Joan Fasser.

“We’ve restocked The Leach Gift Shop, and we hope that folks will still come by and do Holiday shopping here, and take home a unique gift or two,” LeBaron told East Portland News. “Funds raised here go to support our general operations – through our nonprofit organization, Leach Garden Friends.”
