There’s no question that a man was shot in the Centennial Neighborhood at 10:30 p.m. on August 8, on SE 152nd Avenue, just north of SE Division Street.
It is puzzling why the man was shot – and even more a question, why the driver of a car would pick up the wounded man, drive him east in SE Division Street, then stop at SE 172nd Avenue to call 9-1-1 to report the incident. Those are questions to which there presently are no answers.
Crime Scene Investigators scour the area for evidence, and prepare to take photos along SE 152nd Avenue, the scene of the crime.
“Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the 25-year-old male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at 10:43 p.m.,” recounted Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson. “He was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment.”
PPB District Officers, detectives, and members of the Gang Enforcement Team swarmed the area, and were seen along SE Division Street at SE 136th Avenue – and further east, at the crime scene at SE 152nd Avenue.
This block of SE 152nd Avenue remained closed for hours, while detectives investigate the gang shooting.
“There’s not much to see here,” commented a District Officer as he stood next to his patrol car, blocking the street.
The following day, Simpson revealed that the shooting victim was 25-year-old Tyrone Dwayne Warren.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting, and have no suspect information at this time,” Simpson said. “Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Detective Brian Sims at (503) 823-2079 or Brian.Sims@PortlandOregon.gov.”
