Just east of Ventura Park, and north of Montana’s Bar, a gunman began shooting near the intersection of SE 117th Avenue and Oak Street on the evening of May 10.
Four Portland Police Bureau (PPB) East Precinct patrol cars were dispatched to the area at 11:08 p.m. to investigate the reported shooting.
“I didn’t see the guy shooting – but I saw a guy who looked like he had a gun, and his buddy, run [west] into the park,” Matilda Jefferson told East Portland News, as the police began their investigation.
PPB Gun Violence Reduction Team members continue an investigation into this shooting.
“Officers arrived and discovered evidence of gunfire, but no injuries reported,” reported a PPB spokesperson. “Officers located bullet strikes to a nearby house and a vehicle, and, preliminary information suggests that more than one person ran away from the scene.”
Officers conducted a search of the neighborhood, but were unable to locate anyone involved, police officials say, and provided no suspect information.
The PPB Gun Violence Reduction Team is investigating the incident, and will conduct follow-up, the spokesperson said, but wouldn’t confirm whether there was considered to be any further danger to residents.
