Week #99 Shooting Report | See why this report might not make it to the 100th edition. There were many ‘Shots Fired’ calls, as seen in our weekly log, though …
This week, officers who looked into shootings in the Lents and Hazelwood neighborhoods didn’t find anything; so, quiescence was the rule, not the exception, this week.

There certainly were serious shooting incidents this week across the City of Portland, but none of them in our neighborhoods this time. If shooting-related homicides continue to decline, there may be no reason to continue compiling the weekly the East Portland News “Shooting Report”. That would be good news for all of us.
Citywide, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers were sent to only 14 “Shooting-with Weapon” calls; several of those were in the Gresham area. And, unusually, there were four listed in Southwest Portland.
One “Shooting-with Weapon” call documented:
June 8 at 7:38 p.m.
Gunshot victim comes to Hazelwood hospital
After a person with a gunshot wound came into the Emergency Department of Adventist Medical Center, the medical staff called police to come investigate, as they are required to do by law. Reportedly, the victim was reluctant to provide any information about the incident. This is Case No. 22-153286.
~ SHOTS FIRED LOG ~
When officers are dispatched to a “Shots Fired” call, they come prepared to take action, if needed.
Compared to other areas around the city that logged 36 “Shots Fired” calls, outer East Portland registered only 26 such dispatches for service – not an all-time low, but a significant reduction in such reports. As always, in many cases, officers do not find victims or evidence of shooting.

It’s likely due to the diligent efforts of the Portland Police Bureau, and their specialty teams, that we saw a reduction in the number of shootings.
We wish them success – and safety.
