While looking for a new summertime event, members and leaders of the Foster Area Business Association (FABA) settled on an inaugural “Spirit of Foster Tasting Tour” on July 9.
The tour was in the category of a “pub crawl”, in which people go from one establishment to another to sample beer, wine, and liquor.
But the event also featured “All Ages” routes, with family-friendly places to visit, including Carts on Foster, Nayar Taqueria, Portland Mercado, and Red Castle Games.
“Spirit of Foster Tasting Tour” founder Justin Amrine from Starday Tavern spends a moment with Kelsey Denogeon of Pieper Café and FABA District Organizer Marina Martinez from Venture Portland.
“The event gives people a reason to get out and experience the many good establishments up and down Foster Road, and meet their owners,” explained tour organizer Justin Amrine, proprietor of Starday Tavern.
In addition to encouraging folks to explore Foster Road businesses – the promotion included each participating store giving out “passports” and stickers, making visitors eligible to win prizes.
“The best thing to come out of this, for the business district, is bringing our business owners together,” Amrine told East Portland News.
FABA President, and owner of Red Castle Games, Matt Micetic demonstrates “spirit” by showing people how to play a new game.
“When business owners come together on the same team, we support one another,” Amrine added. “There are plenty of customers for all of us.”
