See why this outer East Portland residence will need a bit more restoration work than planned, before it can be put on the market for sale …

A modest 738 sq. ft. house in Lents at 5340 SE 88th Avenue, built in 1950, being renovated – but now will need way more extensive repairs after a fire broke out there late on Sunday, November 24th.
Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) crews, sent to the blaze at 11:33 p.m. that evening, reported to dispatchers as they approached seeing the fire and smoke from blocks away.
Working on the roof, firefighters check for fire in the attic.
“When they arrived, firefighters found heavy fire burning in a house that was under renovation,” PP&R Rick Graves confirmed to reporters the next day. “The fire was declared under control within 10 minutes, but there was significant damage to the structure.”
There were no injuries associated with it. “As for the cause of this fire, it is currently under investigation by PF&R’s Fire Investigation Unit,” concluded Graves.
Getting plenty of water on the fire helped crews quickly extinguish most of the fire in this house.
